Unit, Assessement and Lesson Planning.Through the employment of backwards design, as advocated by the research of Wiggins and McTighe (2011), leading to the creation of their understanding by design concept, I created unit plans for each of my professional experiences which reflected overarching learning goals. By determining what students needed to know, understand and then do, in order to meet the learning goals of the unit, I was able to effectively select and organise content. This meant that the progression of learning followed an organisation of curriculum content which enabled students to successfully and confidently complete assessment of learning.

The following are examples of a Year 9 Poetry unit plan and a Year 11 Narratives unit plan. This demonstrates my ability to both the ACARA and the SACE English curriculum in order to plan and implement a learning progression while meeting assessment and performance standards.
